Originally bred in Germany for hunting small animals, Dachshunds have strong instincts and a confident attitude. In Indian households, they are primarily kept as companion dogs and watchdogs due to their alertness and strong attachment to family members.

Dachshunds are playful, curious, and courageous. They form a strong bond with their owners and can be protective. While affectionate with family, they may be cautious around strangers. Early socialization helps them become well-balanced pets.

They are intelligent but slightly stubborn, which means training requires patience and consistency. Positive reinforcement works best with this breed.

Dachshunds have a long spine and short legs, giving them a unique appearance. They come in three coat types:

Exercise & Care
